We do not know of a single primary school in the Dubingiai area that is older than the end of the 18th century.
In 1777, there was a parish school in Dubingiai where four noblemen and ten peasant children studied, and in 1781 - nine noblemen and two peasants. Dubingiai Primary School was opened around 1860. Since 1921, Lithuanian language has been taught in Dubingiai primary school.
In the three-grade folk school in Dubingiai, education began on November 14 and ended in May. Students who completed three classes of this school used to go to Inturkė, Joniškis to take exams. In 1925-1926, the school already had a fourth grade. Two teachers worked. Later, courses for adults were also organized here, but after a few years they ceased to operate.
In 1949, Dubingiai primary school was reorganized into a seven-year school. During this period, there were also difficult trials. The school grew and in 1957 the seven-year school was transformed into a secondary school. For three years, it graduated high school students, but as the number of students decreased, the older classes were closed. In 1963, the school became an eight-year school, which moved to new premises in a brick building in 1966. An 80-seat dormitory with a 40-seat canteen was built next to the new school.
