THE TOURIST ROUTE AROUND BALNINKAI

On the tourist route around Balninkai, you will pass by a town that has been famous since ancient times. Eight tourist attractions are within easy walking distance, and information boards at each of them will help you get to know the history, culture and beautiful nature of the town on your own. So, we invite you to go on a journey and get to know Balninkai!

The tourist route starts in the centre of the town, near the main crossroads (the three roads to Moletai, Anyksciai and Ukmerge), where there is a spacious car park. From the centre, you will go to the town's highlight - the two-tower Balninkai Church. On the other side of the road, you will stop at the house where Fr. Stanislovas Gruodis lived in. As you turn back towards the centre, you will stop at the memorial stone of Balninkai. The route continues along Gedimino Street towards the oldest building in Balninkai - the Magazin. In the Magazin you can visit the only Lithuanian glass museum and an art gallery, as well as the local museum and the partisan hideout. If you go with the whole team, you can pre-order and bake your own dumplings, or book a tasting of authentic dishes at the “Kaimynystes namai”. From there, the trail leads to the burial site of the desecrated remains of the partisans. After going down the steps, you will reach the shore of lake Alausai and you can admire the view of the lake and take a rest. If you feel like it and are curious enough, plan to turn off the track and walk a little way along the shore of Alausai, south towards Zelva, and climb up the hill to the top of the lake, where you will have a wonderful view of nature. This is a great place for selfies. Follow the same road back to the track and stop at the Independence Monument. Continue along the track and you will reach the centre of the town.
