The Grave of J.Gaidamavičius-Gaidys

Jonas Gaidamavičius-Gaidys was a prose writer, author of the first original Lithuanian short story "Antanas Valys", published in 1889, one of the founders, editors and collaborators of the magazine "Varpas". He attended primary school in Alanta. In 1888, he and his family settled in the village of Kazimierava, Luokesa subdistrict, in the estate rented by his father. After graduating from the University of Warsaw, he lived in Kazimierava until 1890. Since 1908, he worked as a doctor in Alanta, where he is now buried.
