The Castle-hill of Dubingiai

In the XV c. the Great Duke of Lithuania Vytautas built Dubingiai Castle in the island of Asveja lake, which belonged to the defence system of Vilnius. At the beginning of the XVI c. Dubingiai Castle-site went to the magnates Radvilos. Next to the castle a brick palace was built. At the beginning of the XVII c. there was built a reformed evangelical church, in the crypts of which Mykalojus Radvila, the Black, Elžbieta Šidlovecka – Radvilienė, Jonušas Radvila and Mykalojus Radvila, the Red, are buried. The discovery of the remains of the Magnates Radvilos was an important event in historical and archeological aspects.
Dubingiai is unique for its countryside. It is the centre of attraction for tourists and holidaymakers.

Dubingiai Inn
The building of the inn is situated in the northern part of the central square of the town. In the west part of the building are dwelling quarters, and the east part is for household quarters. The wooden building of Dubingiai Inn is one of the most valuable objects in Molėtai region. Up to 1940 there was a working pub. At present the building belongs to the Directorate of Asveja Regional Park.

Dubingiai Bridge
This is the first wooden bridge across a lake in Lithuania, built in 1934 on the President‘s of Lithuania, A. Smetona‘s initiative. The length of the bridge across Asveja lake is 76,4 m., width – 6 m., height – 2,6 m.

Liesėnai Castle- hill and Ancient Settlement.
The castle- hill and ancient settlement are about 2 km south-east of Videniškiai (Liesėnai Village, Molėtai District). Its steep slopes and great height make it impressive. On the western and northern slopes of the castle-hill there are remains of an ancient settlement. There were found remains of plastic, lined, smooth and rough ceramics.

The Church and Augustine Monastery of Videniškiai

The church of Videniškiai was built in 1618 by the means of Duke Martynas Marcelijus Giedraitis. The buildings have some characteristics of renaissance and baroque. Next to the side of the church a chapel with a basement was built where the members of Giedraičiai family were buried. The church underwent a lot of restorations. The church has 10 art valuables related to Dukes Giedraičiai.
The building of Augustine Monastery of Videniškiai is from baroque period. There was a school and hospital. The wooden building of the monastery was of two storys with a gallery. The downstairs had 2 rooms, the upstairs – 9 cells. At present the ground-floor is occupied by Videniškiai library.

Giedraičiai is situated 21 km from Molėtai on the bank of Lake Kiementas, and the founder of the town is considered to be Duke Giedrius. In 1410 the first church was built in Giedraičiai, named after St. Bartholomew. The church has 9 art records, a monumental organ. Adjacent to the church there is a working, very important and interesting belfry built in the XIX century according to Vilnius university professor‘s, K. Gregotovičius, project.

Count Kostas Jelenskis built a big manor, a chapel-mausoleum in the village of Didžiokai, and planted a lot of trees which formed an impressive park, where trees, with the help of a gardener, gained various shapes. The chapel is of neo-classical forms, rotunda, one-storeyed, with a cupola and a basement.

In 1739 the Parish Priest of Inturkė St. Tomaševskis funded the building of a new church. It was started only after 1757. Near the church there was a two-stage belfry with a small tower and four bells. There was a working parish school. At the beginning of the XIX century the project to rebuild the church was prepared and it was renovated. After the renovation the church reshaped into classical features. The church is built of wooden axed logs . The church has 11 important valuables of art.

Wooden St. John‘s the Baptist chapel of Rudesa was built in the II half of the XVII century. The chapel was greatly damaged during the war in 1812. In 1820 it was renovated, new altars were set up. In 1989 it was returned to the parish of Inturkė. To the south-west of the chapel there is a belfry built in the I half of the XIX century.

Alanta Inn is situated on the crossroads on the side of the square of Alanta town. Alanta Inn, built in the first half of the XVIII c., is of a rectangular layout with an axial composition, consisting of two parts: residential and a coach house. In 1892 after the fire, the building of the inn was reconstructed and the inside layout and facades were changed.After the World War II the inside layout and the facades were changed again. The foundation are made of stone, the walls are made of stone and brick.

The Church of Alanta

The church was built in 1904-1912. In 1928 the craftsman V. Jakševičius built an altar, a pulpit, decorated the gallery with sculptures. In the 30s of the XX c. brothers Zakarkos from Klaipėda decorated the inside. In 1979 the inside of the church was decorated once again, and in 1982 the stained glass Windows were set in. The church is neo-romantic, with two towers, a hall, 3 naves, of a Latin cross layout. The socle is
made of ashlars, the walls are brick, plastered, the inside of the church is spacious and bright. The church has 7 important art valuables.
